Capital Womens Network is a group of engaged and involved women who touch every part of the Tallahassee community, as well as much of Florida. Our members sit on the boards of the major universities in town, the Florida Commission of the Status of Women and Girls, Zonta, Rotary, The Florida Democratic Party, The Tallahassee Garden Club, Tallahassee Symphony Society, American Red Cross, PACE Center for Girls, Lee’s Place, and many other organizations.
Our biggest focus as a group is the education of women. So often women must interrupt their education to care for loved ones, or for a myriad of other reasons. CWN has scholarships for women returning to their education at Tallahassee Community College, Florida State University , and our newest one at Florida A & M University.
Contributions can be made to any of these excellent educational institutions so that scholarships can continue being given to women who value education and the changes it makes in not only their lives, but the lives of their entire family.
Go to the Foundation donation page at any of these universities and look for the Capital Womens Network scholarship to make your contribution today.
Thank you for your support of women and the strength of education.
For Spring semester 2016, as CWN as funding the newest scholarship at FAMU, an anonymous donor contributed specifically so this scholarship could be given prior to the endowment level being met. We are proud to introduce you to LaQuala Coleman. She is a senior at FAMU, a single mother of 2, a corrections officer and a member of the Army National Guard. When asked when she sleeps she answers” never” with a beautiful smile. Congratulations to Laquala! We are proud to have you be the first recipient of this new scholarship for women returning to their education at FAMU.
2017 update: We are very proud to say that this FAMU scholarship has now been fully funded and is helping women each semester.
